On that cold September day
came the dreadful call
the doctor can do
nothing at all

wait for me
I will try
to make it there
to say goodbye

You could not wait
for me that day
when I arrived
you had gone away

family and friends
had gathered around
sitting together
not making a sound

more than words can say
I am saddened we lost you
